Christmas Tag Part 2

Hey Aspirers here is part two of the Christmas tag. If you haven’t read part one check out my last post here

A: I don’t have one favorite but check out Holiday Jams post of a list of all my favorites. There are also videos!

2. What is one Christmas food I can’t live without?

A: This isn’t a dish only served at Christmas but I enjoy it because my family and I only make it home made two or three times a year. I would say macaroni and cheese.

3. Peppermint or gingerbread

A: Gingerbread duh!

4. Have you ever tried fruit cake?

A: Yup and I love it!

5. What is one thing you asked for this Christmas?

A: I’m not picky but I love any in the houndstooth pattern.

6. If I could be in any Christmas movie character, who would I be?

A. Scrooge and I’m not saying I’m a Scrooge but when I’m down and petty it would be nice to have a little reminder from the ghosts of what’s really important in life.

I hope you liked my Christmas tag and feel free to do this tag too!

A: With my family

3. Do you decorate before or after Thanksgiving?

A: After sometimes the week before Christmas lol

Christmas Gift Ideas

Hi Aspirers!

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? Below I’ve listed some gift ideas for your last minute shopping needs.

  • Visa gift cards. Instead of trying to find that perfect gift, let them buy it themselves with your money.
  • Gas cards. One thing people don’t like paying for is gas. We all wish we can get up and go without stopping for gas.
  • Sephora makeup gift set. Sephora is a well known makeup store that create great makeup sets. Stop wondering if she has that color. Sephora made up a great set just for her.
  • Movies. You’re buying a gift for someone you know of course and getting them those movies they loved in theaters is a great idea.
  • Concert tickets. If their favorite band or group is coming to town, tickets to that show is the ultimate gift.
  • Vacation packages. A lot of people are skipping out on gift giving this year to save up for trips. Treating yourself on a vacation maybe something you need.
  • Jewelry
  • Undergarments such as bras, panties, tanks, under shirts, boxers, etc
  • Sunglasses
  • Perfumes/Cologne
  • Use past gift registries such as Buy Buy Baby and Bed Bath and Beyond. They kept registries up to two years.

What I always wanted as a kid

Hi Aspirers!

When you were a kid was it something you were dying to have? You got everything but that one thing! That one thing for me was a toy tea cart with over 100 pieces. It was the ultimate cart because it had everything you could imagine to play house with. I was in elementary school when I wanted this and I can still remember exactly what I looked like. It was blue, it had two tiers and on the tiers it came with a toy toaster with toast, tea pot, tea cups, pots, pans, fake eggs, egg timer,  fake meats, utensils, etc. This is the closest picture I could find of what it looked like but it came with a lot more pieces.

Looking back to when I was a child I can’t complain because I was very fortunate with the amounts of gifts I received for Christmas. I do regret I should of played with them more than one or two times but I do know if I had that toy tea cart it would of felt like I hit the jackpot!

Let me tell you if I come across that cart again I’m buying it and my kids and I are going to have endless amounts of fun because I have a lot to catch up on. If you know what toy cart I’m talking about comment below. Also let me know what was something you wanted as a kid but never got.

My Little Ornament

Hi Aspirers!

Unfortunately I was unable to find the original ornament with my name on it but a newer one will suffice to make my point. Growing up and decorating the Christmas tree my family would add these cute personalize ornaments. We didn’t hand make the ornaments but we wrote our names on them with a silver and gold marker. I was young and I didn’t have neat handwriting and I still don’t but I’ve progressed through the years. On my ornament I tried my best to write my name clearly. Recently I’ve been around more little kids and their parents talking about their first Christmas and I thought to myself when I have children I would want them to create something to show how far they’ve come. They won’t remember writing or creating the ornaments but it’s something for them to look back on and call it theirs.

When you were a child did you create ornaments or something similar for the Christmas tree? If there are any parents reading have you thought about doing that with your children. Leave a comment down below.

Sincerely, Courtney Renee

In one of my previous posts I told you all what Christmas means to me and how it changed over the years and this post I’m sharing how I’ve seened Christmas evolve in the economy.

If we think back to our first memory of Christmas and how Christmas was explained us it might of been explained as a celebration of the birth of Jesus and remembering the importance of why God decided to bless Mary and Joseph with Jesus. Through the years of working through retail I’ve seen the true meaning of what Christmas should be about to an opportunity for making money. I remember seeing Christmas decorations in stores starting after Thanksgiving but now companies are advertising and selling Christmas products before Halloween! Turning Black Friday to purchase gifts early to Black week. Turning the holidays from spending time with your love ones to spending time at work. If we are so busy working and supposedly making money then why are we so many people scraping by? Companies are spending so much money competing with a holiday that was not meant for sell. People waited until December to start playing music and decorating their homes and it was fine then. Trading family time for work time is at an all time high especially in America. I just wish more companies took the time to see the importance of being with family and resting.

Do you feel like the true meaning of Christmas has turn from family time to money time? Leave a comment down below.

Sincerely, Courtney Renee

How the Grinch(es) Stole My Christmas

Hi Aspirers!

If there is one thing I don’t like about the holiday is working during the holiday season. Working in retail is my choice. I went to college for fashion that was also my choice. What was not my choice is helping grinches on holidays. My full time job is retail and retail alone is stressful but retail during the holiday is CRAZY!  Hours change and customers expect the workers to have items fall from the skies whenever they need it.

We understand it’s the holidays and time is running out until December 25th but I wish some customers gave workers a break for things we don’t have control over. Such as:

  • UPS/FEDEX shipping. It’s not our fault you decided to order an item a week before Christmas and it hasn’t arrived yet.
  • UNAVAILABLE. You aren’t the only person that want that item. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. I know how to sew but I’m not making that shirt for you.
  • APPLYING FOR CREDIT CARDS. Employees are trying to help you save money by applying for that store card and get you additional % off. We aren’t trying to get you in debt. You know your max card limit and it doesn’t mean you have the max out the card. Deep down you maxed out that card because you wanted that expensive item(s).
  • STORE HOURS extended. The malls and department stores extended hours to make shopping more convenient for shoppers not more convenient for workers. When it’s 10pm or 11pm and workers are trying to close the doors because they have families too, it doesn’t mean customers should walk in 5 minutes until closing. Trust us we want your money but we also want our beds. Please just be considerate.

Those are just a few examples. If you have anymore leave your comments below.

The holiday season is meant for joy not stress and retail workers want to make your holiday stress free. If I get a customer acting out it doesn’t make the process smooth for me, them, and the people around them. Breathe and realize it’ll be okay. Sometimes when someone brings your mood down it effects your whole day and again the holiday season is meant for joy not stress.

Grinches can be customers but workers can also be grinches too. Let us have less stressful days and plan accordingly so we all don’t have a run in with a Grinch.

Sincerely, Courtney Renee
