What’s In Your Closet

2015/01/img_5519.png

Okay let’s be honest a lot of us do it. Don’t even try to lie. We purchase something thinking we are going to wear it often. The next thing you know you wear it once and forget it’s in the back of your closet. You finally remember it when you’re trying to find something else. For me I hate throwing out clothes or shoes unless I know I can’t fit it. Especially if it’s too big. At the same time I don’t want to get rid of staple pieces that will continue to be in style such as blazers and tops.

What to do with all those clothes if you refuse to get rid of them. Hmmmmm…. Revamp your wardrobe! Think of new ways to wear your favorite pair of pants, that cool top, or pairing those shoes with something else. Think of what colors go well with each other. If you have a ton of summer dresses you can’t wear in the fall or winter because it’s either too short or to cold for it, pair it up with some cute tights and layer it with a cute blazer.

Guys are known for having less clothes than women so switching up what you wear with your favorite pair of jeans is a must. Currently I’m a Men’s Clothing Specialist at Saks. Yes I said it a Men’s Clothing Specialist. Women are great at styling men. Working there I’ve notice a lot of gentlemen stick to the same black or blue suit with a white button up shirt underneath. If you work five days a week to other people it will look like you’re wearing the same thing everyday. Something simple you can do is change up the color of your shirt and tie with your suits. A lot of guys that come into the store are very conservative and that’s their excuse on why their outfits are so plain. In a nice way I have to explain “you don’t have to look simple to keep your conservative style.”

Right now I’m in the process of moving and going through my closet. Like I said before I’m in the process for starting up a YouTube channel and I’m going to show you all some good examples on how to change up your wardrobe. Even if you have very few garments or have so many you can’t even count this video will be worth watching. I hope these tips will work out for you and keep a look out for the video that will go along with this topic.

Sincerely, Courtney Renee

The meaning behind my blog’s name….

Some people, well most people probably looked at the title of my blog and though “Huh? Aspire Oneself? I don’t get it.”

When I have to sit down and come up with names for my future store, YouTube channel, or the names for my stuff animals (when I was a kid lol) I would always look up names and their meanings in the dictionary. I would look in the thesaurus too. You can only imagine the names I had for my stuff animals. I named one stuff animal that wore an American flag outfit America Zeal Meadows which means America loves our country. The thesaurus is a great tool but anyway back to why I named my blog and my fashion consulting business Aspire Oneself.

I came up with names like:
Your Lookbook
Inspire Yourself
Your Closet
Your Personal Closet
Fashion Style
A Look Through A Fashionista’s Eyes

Something about “Inspire Yourself” just rolled off my tongue so nicely but the title was already taken. So I started thinking about aspire and looked up what that meant. Which is:

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/22c/64606042/files/2014/12/img_5043-0.png

Well I do want to achieve a career in fashion and help others. I decided the name should be “Aspire Yourself.” Unfortunately that was taken too. Back to the drawing board. If I can’t use yourself I have to find another word. I went to my handy dandy thesaurus on the web and typed yourself and “oneself” came up in the search. Then I looked up what oneself meant. Which is:

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/22c/64606042/files/2014/12/img_5044-0.png

Well I am my own person. I don’t want to be anyone else but a better me. So I’m achieving to be my own person. The person I want to be in the future.

My definition for Aspire Oneself is:

Even if it’s personal or professional growth we all want to achieve greatness. I know I do and I want to help others the best way I know how. I want to give people great advice, motivational quotes and tips, mentoring, and fashion consulting. #letmedressyou so you can become a better you with style!

When you’re shopping……

When you’re going shopping and you’re picking clothes to try on are you looking for clothes that you like or what your peers will like?

There is so much pressure to fit in even with our own group of friends because we all are comfortable with them. Some people don’t want to be the awkward friend to get laugh at even though you know they are joking.

My question to you is when you’re planning on changing up your style how important is it to you for other people to like it and why?

Sincerely, Courtney Renee

Men Clothing Options

Where do men find their source on fashion? Is it in the media? Do the women or their significant other in their lives tell them what looks good on them? Do you guys wake up one morning and say to yourself “I need to update my wardrobe?” Ask yourself these questions. Who really decides your clothing style?

Everyone has different body shapes. What looks good on others might not look good on you. I never understood a man’s body frame until I had to measure them. By looking at men’s clothing and how it lays on their body some men aren’t wearing the appropriate fit for their body type. Men are short, tall, husky, body builders, etc and everyone can’t afford a personal stylist that can find outfits for their frames. I would consistently see men wearing high water suits because they were really tall or fitted blazers or shirts because their arms were really buff and had extremely broad shoulders. Women have these issues too but women have so many more options in clothing stores then men. Men really have to do their research to find their perfect shopping spot.

I have one last question for you guys if you go look in your closet does the choices of clothes you have fit your body frame?
